Involving the people we work with

Young people’s participation is at the heart of Catch22’s work. Through involving young people in our work, we’re able to offer the right support and provide better outcomes for them, their families and the communities we work with.

Catch22 was the first voluntary organisation to adopt the ‘Hear by Right' framework, a quality standard for youth participation, in 2006.

Youth participation at Catch22

The Catch22 Youth Foresight Unit was set up to explore the issues young people growing up in tough situations are likely to face in future. The Youth Foresight Unit is a team of young people between the ages of 16 and 21 who, together with futures experts, look at what the future might hold and what support young people will need to move forward in their lives.

Consultation with young people

Consultation with young people who have experienced our services helps us to shape and deliver effective services for more young people. Young people are agents for change in all areas of the organisation, including:

  • frontline services
  • strategic management
  • overall governance.

Enabling young people to have a voice in a safe and supported way is essential to the integrity of our work. Catch22 therefore invests time and energy in its staff to give them the skills to be participative in all that they do.
