Matthew Offord MP visits Barnet service

11 August 2010

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, local young people and staff at Catch22's Action4Youth project in Barnet, received a visit from Matthew Offord MP.

The service helps local 11 to 21-year-olds to steer clear of crime or from becoming the victim of crime by engaging them in positive activities which benefit the whole community. These activities include the CRAC (Communications, Results, Action Committee), which builds positive relations between young people and the police, youth led action groups tackling community safety issues, anger management courses and the Community Space Challenge programme, through which local young people have built a community garden on the Grahame Park Estate.

Matthew Offord MP for Hendon saw first hand the projects available through the service and met young people taking part in the summer programme of activities.

Barnet Action 4 Youth Project Manager, Alison Kira, says

'We’re delighted to be celebrating our 20th anniversary of delivering early intervention and community safety work in the borough. We are pleased Matthew Offord MP is celebrating our local achievements by visiting the centre and meeting the young people who have benefited from this service.'

Catch22 Barnet Action 4 Youth will be holding fundraisers to celebrate its 20th anniversary throughout the year. For further information about how to get involved please contact the Barnet Action 4 Youth.
