Engage in Education - Manchester

07 September 2011

Catch22's Engage in Education programme offers schools and academies specialist services designed to increase the attendance and attainment of pupils most at risk of exclusion from school.

'Catch22 has been working in education for many years. The strength of our approach is that we not only improve the educational attainment of the young people we work with but also support their emotional and developmental growth. We know that the right interventions create a lifelong impact on young people facing challenges.'
Steph Taylor, Programme Manager

How we work

Engage in Education in Manchester will support young people in years 10 and 11 at risk of exclusion from school back into mainstream education. We also have teams in Bristol, Croydon, Essex and Newcastle.

Through Catch22's existing strong partnerships with secondary schools and academies, Engage in Education will work to prevent exclusions by offering:

  • one-to-one support from key workers and volunteer mentors
  • accredited and non-accredited group work from the Pupil Parent Partnership (PPP) teachers
  • family support
  • community engagement through volunteering
  • workforce learning and development with specialist communication advisors from I CAN.

The referral process

Schools can refer pupils to Engage in Education through their local coordinator, see contact details above.

The results

Our teams will have robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms in place, with a comprehensive evaluation being carried out to evidence the impact of our work with young people in schools and academies.
