Catch22 Community Youth Volunteering Programme
Are you interested in helping young people out?- Are you aged between 16-25?
- Do you live in Greater London?
- Are you looking to get into youth work?
If you answered yes - then the Community Youth Volunteering (CYV) programme is for you!
The CYV Programme is funded by v, an independent charity aiming to inspire a new generation of volunteers aged 16-25 in England. With their support we help young people to gain experience in youth work through voluntary placements with Catch22 and other organisations.
Offering your time for young people within your community not only rewards you personally, but it also helps you to gain experience which could help you get into youth work courses or even employment.
No previous experience or qualifications are necessary to join the programme, just a passion for youth work and lots of enthusiasm!
You need to be able to devote a minimum of 22 hours a week for thirteen weeks to the project. These hours can be split over weekends or evenings depending on when you are available.
Catch22 will cover all expenses and support you throughout your volunteering.
What will you do?
We work with lots of projects that all work with young people in different ways. We will match you to a project based on your interests and availability. Types of volunteering you could be doing include:
- after-school clubs
- drop-in sessions
- specific sessions, such as sports, music and art
- outreach
- days out
- special educational activities.
Benefits
The CYV Programme is a great way to get an insight into youth work. By volunteering you get a chance to see how youth organisations work from the inside out. You will:
- gain valuable work experience
- learn more about youth organisations
- give something back to your community
- meet other young volunteers.
In addition to this you can gain a Level 2 qualification in 'Being a Youth Peer Worker' from the Open College Network and two volunteering certificates called the ' v50' and 'vimpact' from v.
