Young people on the Catch22 Wirral National Citizen Service programme (NCS)

This month on 3 February the Catch22 Wirral NCS team held an inaugral ambassadors event at Birkenhead’s Learning Cenre, based within the community setting of Forum Housing. The event brought together NCS graduates from all over Wirral, who completed the programme in July, August or October last year.

The young people attending had all expressed a desire to be further involved in NCS through the graduate ambassador programme, which is being piloted. With three opt-in tiers, young people have the chance to participate in public-speaking workshops, interview skills workshops and CV-writing sessions as well further community-based projects using the money they raised during their service. The graduates will also volunteer their time to help recruit young people in Wirral onto NCS in 2014.

Neil Jackson, who works in the Wirral team, says:

‘The long-term aim is to support young people through the graduate programme and onto further volunteering and employment opportunities – which might include the next generation of Catch22 and NCS employees in the years ahead.’

Catch22 is part of The NCS Network.
