Held at the AA Centre of Excellence in Oldbury, West Midlands, last week, the ceremony celebrated the hard work and dedication of eight apprentice graduates.
The apprenticeship programme launched in 2018 as a partnership between Catch22 and AA, giving young people the training and pathway to a sustainable career in customer service and support.
Chair of Catch22, Terry Duddy welcomed The Princess Royal, before she was given a tour of the AA centre of excellence and introduced to several apprentices and staff:
“The AA are a true heritage company in the UK, and a household name. It’s hugely heartening to see the organisation embracing apprenticeships, and Catch22, to harness the best future workforce possible.
“The day has been all the more special thanks to our Royal guest.”
The Princess Royal spoke with each of the apprentices and presented them with their graduation awards.
A panel discussion, chaired by Director of Vocational Training Chris Stoker Jones, was held between two existing apprentices and a former apprentice who has progressed through the business to a leadership position. The panel spoke about their experiences, why they chose to earn while they learn, instead of following a university route, and how Catch22 and the AA have supported them throughout.
As part of its mission to find everyone a purpose, Catch22 is an approved levy apprenticeship provider, providing training opportunities for organisations nationwide
Catch22’s support includes training design, recruitment, programme management, and ongoing one-to-one support for both apprentices and employers.
About this programme
Catch22 is an approved levy apprenticeship provider and creates apprenticeship programmes for businesses. The Apprenticeship Levy means that many businesses who’ve never thought about it before are having to start thinking about hiring apprentices.
The partnership between The AA and Catch22 enables two leading British organisations to have a significant impact on young people’s lives. Catch22 leads the way in setting up the apprenticeship programme and finding appropriate candidates for the AA, many of whom would not know about the programme were in not Catch22’s ability to contact hard to reach individuals.
The AA has fantastic career opportunities and this partnership enables The AA to train ambitious apprentices, who will strengthen the business and diversify the company’s workforce.
