Coventry Innovation Programme
The Department for Education (DfE) has made a commitment to supporting local authorities and other organisations to build on best practice and try new approaches in the way in which social care services are delivered.
The intention is to stimulate and support innovation in the delivery and structures of children’s social care and help spread proven innovations more rapidly. To this end, Children’s Social Care Innovation Fund has been set up.
In response to this, Catch22 developed and tested a new approach to better support Section 17 children in need in Crewe. The work has been tested by a Randomised Controlled Trial and we are now working with Coventry City Council to implement the approach in the city with DfE funding.
In Coventry this involves the establishment of two new Child in Need Teams comprising of social work and non-social work qualified family practitioners who will deliver support through solution focused brief therapy, planning and engagement with families. Supported by volunteers the service aims to improve the quality of support and intervention to families at this end of the continuum of need.
The service is scheduled to start in February 2018 and run until July 2019 at which point we will be in a position to scale across the city and hopefully, the region.
Catch22 is currently recruiting it’s Coventry team – explore our Careers section for details.
