Parents and guardians

NCS is a fantastic opportunity open to all 16 and 17-year-olds across England, providing them with skills and experiences that can’t be learnt in the classroom.

Since 2010, Catch22 has worked with 28,856 young people to provide them with the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills and make a difference in their community.

Your teenager will benefit in lots of different ways by taking part:

  • Building confidence, teamwork and leadership – skills employers are looking for
  • Developing new skills – NCS is recognised by UCAS
  • Making new friends – young people from different backgrounds make friends for life
  • Giving back to the community – planning and delivering a social action project locally
  • Duke of Edinburgh– the adventure part of phase 1 is counted as the residential section of the Gold Award

‘A fantastic opportunity to involve young adults in the ‘real world!’ Allowing them to set targets and being able to achieve them through hard work.’

‘Thank you so much – my daughter’s confidence has grown immensely!’

Amazing value

The government contribute nearly all of the cost of the programme, so you only need to pay £50 to secure a place for your teenager. Accommodation and food are included when your teenager is away from home.

We do have bursaries available, subject to certain criteria – we don’t want the cost to stop young people taking part. Our team would be happy to discuss bursaries with you during the sign up process.

‘An excellent programme whereby young people can give back to the community, doing something they enjoy.’

Safety and wellbeing

Catch22 takes the safety and wellbeing of all young people seriously. We ensure that all NCS staff are DBS checked and provide a fully comprehensive training programme that includes safeguarding and health and safety procedures. All activities are fully risk assessed and overseen by trained instructors. We also continually evaluate our programme to ensure high quality delivery.
