Intervention: Be Safe Children’s Programme
The intervention is a family orientated cognitive behavioural, psycho-educational and supportive treatment programme for children aged six to 12-years-old with problematic sexual behaviour and their parents/care-givers.
Support is provided over 24 one-hour weekly group sessions designed to eliminate or reduce sexually problematic behaviour in children.
The programme is interactive and includes the use of role play, puppets, story-telling and addresses what is appropriate sexual behaviour, sexual behaviour rules, safe boundaries, safety planning, keeping safe, sex education, parent training, impulse control, coping strategies and child-parent relationships.
