Catch22 is proud to announce the formation of the London Futures Alliance – a partnership between three leading charities, Catch22, St Mungo’s, and Shaw Trust. Together, we represent the unique power of the third sector in delivering services that support rehabilitation, combining our expertise to help people to live socially connected, crime-free lives, with aspirations and hope for the future.
The London Futures Alliance brings together leaders in rehabilitation, housing, jobs and skills, money management, and wellbeing, creating a values-driven partnership capable of delivering truly person-centred services within prisons and across communities in London. In 2024/25, our combined services supported 20,790 people through commissioned rehabilitative services, drawing on deep expertise to help people get back on their feet and make lasting change.
Formed in response to the evolving landscape of rehabilitative services – and the opportunities presented by the Sentencing Bill and upcoming Ministry of Justice’s Community Support for Men tendering in London – the London Futures Alliance builds on Catch22’s recently launched Reducing Reoffending campaign. Our campaign champions a vision for seamless, community-based support that begins in custody and continues through the gate into the community. We know that the opportunity to engage can be lost at the point of release, so our shared approach ensures continuity of support at every stage of their journey, breaking cycles of offending and empowering individuals to thrive.
At the heart of our campaign are three guiding principles:
- Real voices, real results: Services shaped by the voices of those with lived experience and frontline practitioners.
- Powered by purpose: Delivered by voluntary organisations that fosters trust and reinvests in people and services.
- Rooted locally. Connected Nationally: Collaborate with grassroots organisations to provide joined-up, community-based support.
“The London Futures Alliance represents a shared commitment to reducing reoffending by helping people build stability and connection. That means not only supporting access to housing, financial advice and employment, but also helping people strengthen relationships, confidence, and community ties – the things that make lasting change possible.”
Andy Canniford, Chief Development Officer, Catch22
By joining forces, Catch22, St Mungo’s, and Shaw Trust bring together deep and complementary expertise, and extensive local networks built over decades of working in London’s prisons and communities. Our alliance will strengthen these relationships, enabling us to share connections and collaborate with a wide network of partners to deliver the best possible rehabilitative outcomes for men of all ages.
- Catch22 is a social business delivering public services that build resilience and aspiration in people and communities.
- St Mungo’s is a frontline homelessness charity working to end homelessness and rebuild lives through outreach, recovery, and prevention.
- Shaw Trust is a leading social purpose organisation supporting people into meaningful work, education, and improved wellbeing.
Together, we are committed to shaping a strengths-based model for rehabilitation in London that focuses on people’s potential. Through the London Futures Alliance, we will champion reintegration into communities, fostering a sustained sense of belonging, purpose, and opportunity for those we support.
“Too often, people leave prison facing overwhelming challenges – limited prospects, fractured support networks, and barriers to employment. At Shaw Trust, we know that without the right help, these obstacles can lead to a cycle of disadvantage and reoffending.
Our approach goes beyond job placement and good work. We provide tailored, wraparound support that addresses skills development, wellbeing, financial resilience, and social reintegration. By equipping people with these tools, we help them build stability and a sense of purpose for their future.
This work cannot happen in isolation. It demands collaboration between organisations with expertise and shared values. That’s why we are proud to play a role in the London Futures Alliance bid for the CRS programme and creating real opportunities for people to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.”
Richard Clifton, Chief Commercial Officer, ShawTrust
“Every year, too many people leave prison with nowhere to go and no support network. At St Mungo’s, we see the impact of this first-hand, across London and the South of England, where we support thousands of people whose homelessness is directly linked to time spent in custody.
For us, rehabilitation is about more than putting a roof over someone’s head. People deserve specialist, holistic support that addresses their housing, employment, financial, and social needs to help them build stability and reconnect with their communities. These are essential tools they need to rebuild their lives.
Crucially, that support must be delivered by providers with the right infrastructure and expertise, working together across sectors. That’s why we are proud to work with Catch22 and The Shaw Trust as part of the London Futures Alliance, so we can give people leaving the criminal justice system a route of out of homelessness, and make lasting change possible.”
