Euromet 2021: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable young people

A young girl walks down the street, adjusting her face mask.

The annual Euromet conference saw members come together from 11 countries across Europe to share their approaches to pan-European problems. This year Catch22 hosted the annual event – and due to the ongoing uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, it was delivered as a virtual conference.

This year’s theme was: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable young people. On day one we focused on education and employment, day two on mental health, wellbeing and resilience and day three on youth justice and online harms.

We heard from practitioners, academics and of course young people themselves – and heard about the innovative ways in which organisations across the UK and Europe have been supporting young people during the pandemic.

Through interactive workshops, keynote speakers, a series of virtual ‘booths’ and hearing from voices on the frontline, we shared ideas, data and approaches – and challenged each other to think big about how young people can not only survive, but thrive in a post-COVID world.
