As a volunteer with Catch22, you will be supporting people to achieve better outcomes.
Volunteers play an important part in our work at Catch22. More than 450 volunteers delivered over 25,000 hours of support in 2015.
Our volunteers bring many benefits, including different skills, diverse life experiences and an understanding of their local communities. They include former service users, students, retired professionals and people looking to gain new skills but all of them share our commitment and drive to support people to achieve better outcomes.
‘Volunteering with Catch22 increased my self confidence and belief. It has given me a sense of self-pride to have been able to help families and give something back to the community. (Volunteer)
Volunteers at Catch22 carry out many different roles, including:
- supporting families and individuals alongside case workers
- peer mentoring
- sports coaching
‘My volunteer doesn’t have to be there for me. She wants to be there; she wants to make my life better.’ (Supported family member)
We know that people give their time for many different reasons and that their availability varies, so we support our volunteers to give as much or as little as they can.
We provide accredited training and supervision to our volunteers, which includes reflective practice and peer mentoring. This allows volunteers to develop their own skills and strengths, whilst ensuring they are well equipped and supported to undertake their role.
All of our volunteers undertake safeguarding training which allows us to safeguard the children, young people, adults and families we support as well as protecting the volunteers themselves.
Where possible, we match volunteers to service users based on needs and interests. Underpinning our approach is a commitment to positive and professional relationships between staff, volunteers and service users to achieve lasting impact.

Some of our services also offer the opportunity for student placements, either on an individual basis or through our collaborations with colleges and universities.
