Victims of both reported and unreported crime in Hertfordshire are benefitting from Catch22 expertise.

18 April 2018

Hertfordshire Beacon Victim Care Centre, which serves victims of both reported and unreported crime from across the region, is now delivered by Catch22.

As well as providing support, advocacy, information, advice and guidance, Catch22 will also broaden the range of services available in Hertfordshire. This includes integrating restorative justice interventions into the Beacon service, and promoting restorative approaches across the region.

Restorative justice brings both victims and offenders into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward. A positive and restorative experience can positively impact the health and wellbeing of victims as well as reducing the fear of crime and re-victimisation. Catch22 has extensive experience delivering restorative justice in areas across the country including in Nottinghamshire, Leicester and London.

Catch22 team will also be introducing a Beacon Helpdesk, extended opening hours that span seven days a week and a more flexible model that means Beacon’s dedicated team can now meet those accessing the service in a location of their choosing across Hertfordshire.

Peter Jones, Catch22 Director of Social Justice and Rehabilitation, says:

“Catch22 is delighted to be selected by David Lloyd to deliver this service for victims of crime across Hertfordshire. Working collaboratively alongside the wider BEACON Team, Catch22 is committed to putting victims at the centre of the service provided. The opportunity to broaden the provision of restorative justice across the region will provide victims with more choice to access restorative approaches and support”.

David Lloyd, Police and Crime for Hertfordshire, said:

“I’m very pleased to see the Beacon service grow from strength to strength and continue to provide victims in Hertfordshire with excellent care and support.

“I’m looking forward to the additional services which will be available under Catch22’s leadership and working closely with the organisation in the future.”
