GCSE Day: The advice Catch22 staff wish they received

Have you found out your GCSE results today? We know that this news often comes with a mix of emotions but there are lots of options available to students post-16: Catch22 works with young people to help them realise their potential and their passion through apprenticeships, employability support, and post-16 study programmes.

If the results are bad or not what you were expecting then don’t worry. There are so many opportunities out there and it’s now down to you as an individual to take those opportunites and make a successful career/life for yourself! Stay positive and you’ll do just fine!

I was happy with my results and knew I was heading to college with friends. However, I wish someone had told me this wasn’t my only option, everyone was made to feel like that this was the next step and you had to do it but there were other ways I could have continued my education.

Having good GCSE results is beneficial if you want to study further eg. A Levels and university. But they are by no means a true reflection of someone’s ability to succeed in life.

A Levels are not the only option. Have a think about what you really want to do and what you are good at. There’s a lot of emphasis on academic achievement but with so many courses and schemes aimed at finding work after school, make sure you explore every avenue before committing to something.
