Substance Misuse Prevention Training

A group of professionals sit around a table whilst a woman at the front presents a topic to them. She is using Post-It Notes to demonstrate a theory. Overlaid is text that reads "Substance misuse prevention training".

IMPORTANT: This training session is available to frontline professionals who work in schools, colleges and education centres within Hampshire (excluding Portsmouth and Southampton). Unfortunately, we are unable to offer places to people from other counties or sectors at this time.

Hampshire 24/7 is a county-wide specialist treatment service that offers targeted and specialist support to young people under 25. We offer a tailored package of support that includes one-to-one and group work support, a 24-hour help line, pharmacological support, and needle exchange.

Using our extensive experience, we work with frontline staff to increase their knowledge, confidence and skills so that they are able to deliver age-appropriate substance misuse education to young people. We help them to do so as part of a whole-school approach to relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education.

Our training session covers:

  • increased awareness of substance use in young people,
  • using an educative approach to discuss substance use,
  • exploring examples of good practice – such as policy, curriculum, and links to PSHE, and
  • the support available to young people who use substances.

The session lasts for 3.5 hours and is free to attend if you are a frontline professional in a school, college or education centre within Hampshire (excluding Portsmouth and Southampton).
