Our approach

The changing needs of victims: and how to support them better

Catch22 believes that supporting victims of crime is integral to building a stronger society. Support services for victims of crime have evolved considerably over the last few years. Provision is now embedded in regions across the country, with Police and Crime Commissioners working hard to ensure support meets local needs. Great work has been done up until now, but there’s more we can do to reach more victims and give them the support they need.

Victims services

We provide emotional and practical support in the home and community for victims of crime along with crime prevention advice. We have experience delivering a range of victim services including domestic abuse, substance misuse and gangs. We use this experience and our core specialisms in clinical health, restorative justice and outreach to inform the development of our victim services. We develop innovative and localised services with strong partnerships to meet the needs of victims in each area.

What is Restorative Justice?

Restorative justice brings those harmed by crime or conflict and those responsible for the harm into communication. The process enables everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.

"She treated me like a human and not a number in a book. She listened to me and I felt so supported."

I have been pleased in how Catch22 have grasped and led on our Case Managed approach in supporting vulnerable victims as well as outreach to those victims who are unable to report crime to police. We are seeing the results in relation to positive outcomes for victims and increased self-referrals into the service. They are bringing reality to my vision that ‘no one victim should be left behind'
